【2020/1/30】 The market needs a complete technology overhaul.;There should be a smart market initiative, similar to when you have smart cities.;Things like click and collect where you can browse all the shops online and put everything in one basket and collect it all at once, would be helpful for office workers.;They should also integrate all the stores on to Amazon Marketplace so those outside of Leeds can make orders, it would open up the market to a huge untapped consumer base.;I'd also want to see a Leeds market app, it would be good to see daily offers, you could do daily basket comparisons on everyday items like fruit and veg and why it's cheaper to go to the market.;Even something as simple as an Instagram page for the market would be helpful.;I just don't understand why this isn't happening.

【2020/1/30】New design for the entrance of Kirkgate Market on New York Street.

【2020/1/31】I like idea of huge blank canvas and invite artists to decorate it every 6 months.

【2020/9/21】It's even simpler than that.;Require all stallholders to accept contactless payment with no min spend;Extend opening hours to at least 6pm weeknights and enforce stalls not closing early;Find a way to offer free 1h parking to shoppers (dig out the outdoor market to make basement parking like in many EU countries then put deck back on top for outdoor market; Pedestrianise Vicar Lane out front.

【2024/3/22】Intriguing - still not sure how well it will do, but investment nonetheless;Plans for new Leeds Kirkgate Market food village are stacking up nicely.

【2022/12/23】Good points. I would have thought improving the existing market would be better than opening a new on the outside part of the market. Also could this Boxpark be an excuse to close the outdoor part of the market to accommodate it and perhaps open the door for the full redevelopment of the outside part of the market in future? It would also be nice if the George Street frontage to the market is finally redeveloped to something fitting of a city centre and not a suburban shopping parade.

【2024/3/25】I like it. STACK must clearly think there is demand, too.;The rest of the outside area needs improvement. What makes a good outside public space? It's a decent public realm. Some high-quality seating and landscaping would be welcomed, especially given that the elderly use the fruit and veg stalls near the bus station a fair bit. Four metal chairs were around a burger van the last time I was there. That was it!
